Why investing in higher education is good for the community, and business.

Why investing in higher education is good for the community, and business.

Ikon Technologies recently sponsored “The State of Higher Education” luncheon hosted by the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce at UT Arlington.

Here’s the thing—colleges like UTA and TCC aren’t just educating students. They’re shaping the workforce that drives innovation, solves real problems, and builds stronger communities. They’re creating the next generation of problem-solvers, leaders, and yes, even future Olympians.

At the event, UTA President Dr. Jennifer Cowley announced that UTA will become Texas' first NCAA Division I school to offer varsity women’s flag football. The program launches in 2027—just in time to build a pipeline for the 2028 Olympics.

Tarrant County College boasts six campuses and adds new programs to prepare for the careers of tomorrow.

For example, UT Arlington and TCC, together with Penn State University, are addressing the demand for semiconductor experts and increasing career options for veterans. A second cohort completed the institutions’ 12-week Microelectronics and Nanomanufacturing Certificate this spring and received a certificate from Penn State’s Center for Nanotechnology Education and Utilization.

Ikon is proud to support the Arlington community we call home. When business and education work together, everybody wins.
